Attorney Paul F. (“Pete”) Wellborn III contributes to all aspects of AIM's communications-related services. For more than twenty-five years, Pete's practice has included a broad array of Sports & Entertainment Law matters and a wide variety of sports-related technology and IP issues. He has represented numerous professional athletes and coaches, including Mark Verstegen, the founder of Athletes’ Performance (now “EXOS”), the premier human performance center in the world.
Pete also has a wealth of hands-on media relations experience. As his client EarthLink grew throughout the 1990s and the 2000s to become a worldwide ISP, Pete quarterbacked that company's litigation, assisted in developing media strategies, and served as the company's primary legal spokesperson. With a degree in Computer Science from Georgia Tech (where he played football for Bill Curry) and a practice focus that has included Internet Law & Digital Communications for over twenty years, Pete brings a unique perspective to all issues that touch upon social media or the Internet.
Pete's victories have been featured in the Wall Street Journal, CNN, Boardwatch magazine, and a host of other national media outlets. Pete's honors include being named one of top ten attorneys in the United States by Lawyers Weekly, being inducted in 2012 as a Fellow by the Litigation Counsel of America, and being awarded an "AV" Rating by Martindale Hubbell, the highest possible mark for Legal Ability & Ethics.
Pete and his wife Susan, who is also a graduate of Georgia Tech, have one daughter – Maggie – who attends Yale.
